- Good afternoon --
-
- we have a TELEPATH II 28.8 modem that came with a Gateway PC running
- Win 3.11; communications software is the standard that comes with
- Gateway. We initially had problems with autoanswer, but then set
- the software to send AT ... SO=0 to turn off autoanswer. Before turning
- the computer off/back on, this worked fine -- we dialed the number from
- a separate phone and the modem did not autoanswer. Once we did a cold boot
- on the PC, the modem autoanswered again.
-
- We've checked autoexec.bat/config.sys/win.ini/system.ini and couldn't see
- anything that would indicate the modem is being reset through a s/w config
- switch. Is this something hardwired on the modem or is there perhaps a
- dipswitch on the board that is causing it to reset every time?
- It is possible we missed something in checking the startup files, but
- that's not my first thought.
-
- Thanks in advance for any assistance.
-
- Regards,
- Jim
